Story

Hi, people! This is Lilly & Halley here again! I started this science fiction story a while back and Halley suggested that I post it! Here's just a little teaser for you--check back every week for a chapter of the story! If you read it, any kind of feedback is appreciated!

Hello. I’m Lark.

...

Don’t wait for my last name. I don’t have one because I don’t have a family. No siblings, no parents, not even ancestors. No one to inherit anything from, not even a name. And I’m not just a foster kid or something whining because I don’t live with my parents.

I am a genetically enhanced clone, created in a temperature-controlled, liquid-filled cylinder. In a lab. Told you.

I. Don’t. Have. Parents.

Book Review

Hey guys this is Halley here and I gotta tell ya you guys are AMAZING just the best, but don't be afraid to use the comment box we wanna know what your thinking and what questions you have alright yea. So I'm  gonna do something a little different I'm gonna do a book review for y'all. I just read this amazing book its called Where The Mountain Meets The Moon its on the Iowa Children's choice list and should win. Its kinda like a folktale and there are a lot of Chinese folktales in the book. I know what your thinking folktale really that sounds weird but its so well written and really good.

Where The Mountain Meets The Moon is about a girl named Minli who lives in this really gloomy town where the ground is hard and her and her parents work every day for hours to just get a bowl of plain rice on the table. One day a goldfish man comes to their town and sells goldfish he says that this gold fish will bring luck to any home. So Minli goes into her house and gets one coin from her bowl of two coins and buys a goldfish. When Minlis parents get home they are angry they cant believe that Minli spent her money on something that stupid. Its also another mouth to feed they can barely feed them. So the next night Minli decides to dump the fish in the river. After she dumps the fish in the jade river the fish starts talking. Minli is stunned the fish says he is thankful for putting him back so he says Minli can ask any question. So Minli asks how can I change my fortune the fish says she should ask the old man of the moon. So Minli sets off to find the old man of the moon. Read the book to find out if she finds the old man of  the moon and what characters she meets on the way.

Virals review

Hey, it's Lilly here! :)

Little introduction:
I'm a reader who's trying to write, so my portion of the blog is going to mainly be reviews and stories.
Halley and I go way back--we actually met in reading class--and she's a total fashionista, so I think we're all looking forward to that!
So, with school just starting, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things, picking up a few books here and there. I am Number Four and Virals rose above the usual. Halley's super into Maximum Ride right now, which is also good, but I'm sure you've heard about that!

Virals by Katy Reichs is a fairly new read, hopefully not too thoroughly covered already! It's already highly noticed, but I won't go into details. It's an unusual combo of genres--whodunnit and science fiction--but somehow manages to flow together without too many gaps. The gist of it is these four kids living in South Carolina are all massively into science. They're like a club with their own underground hideout and everything! And somehow the most incredible miracle in science manages to find them. They catch a hidden virus from their beloved half-feral canine, who they managed to rescue from a so-called shady research facility on a remote island. The micro-organisms somehow filter through their defenses and alter their DNA, giving them superhuman powers. And in the midst of it all, they stumble upon a dead body and its chilling history...

This is a read for those who like their adventure fast-paced and wild. The ending is as jarring as any I've encountered, though there seem to be a few pieces missing, and the writing is witty enough.

All in all, it stands out and I would recommend it!

Bye! --Lilly :D
