Virals review

Hey, it's Lilly here! :)

Little introduction:
I'm a reader who's trying to write, so my portion of the blog is going to mainly be reviews and stories.
Halley and I go way back--we actually met in reading class--and she's a total fashionista, so I think we're all looking forward to that!
So, with school just starting, I'm trying to get back in the swing of things, picking up a few books here and there. I am Number Four and Virals rose above the usual. Halley's super into Maximum Ride right now, which is also good, but I'm sure you've heard about that!

Virals by Katy Reichs is a fairly new read, hopefully not too thoroughly covered already! It's already highly noticed, but I won't go into details. It's an unusual combo of genres--whodunnit and science fiction--but somehow manages to flow together without too many gaps. The gist of it is these four kids living in South Carolina are all massively into science. They're like a club with their own underground hideout and everything! And somehow the most incredible miracle in science manages to find them. They catch a hidden virus from their beloved half-feral canine, who they managed to rescue from a so-called shady research facility on a remote island. The micro-organisms somehow filter through their defenses and alter their DNA, giving them superhuman powers. And in the midst of it all, they stumble upon a dead body and its chilling history...

This is a read for those who like their adventure fast-paced and wild. The ending is as jarring as any I've encountered, though there seem to be a few pieces missing, and the writing is witty enough.

All in all, it stands out and I would recommend it!

Bye! --Lilly :D
